It can shatter the way that we used to believe the world was, totally at a loss for why this happened
It can leave us feeling guilty or broken even when we know what happened wasn’t our fault
It can leave us reliving the experience any time we’re reminded. Not just a memory, but like we’re brought back to those times like they were happening right now.
We can lower the intensity of the experience, moving closer back to a calm and relaxed baseline
We can unpack how the event has changed our experience of life in ways we often miss
We can reshape the way we engage with the world and the event from the past
We can work through the feeling so that the experience becomes a memory that we can talk about, not a portal to reliving a painful experience all over again.
